Howl

This two-person sculpture exhibition by Joe Butler and David Dunne loosely draws from Allen Ginsberg epic poem Howl. Ginsberg’s vernacular speech and rhythmic presentation of his accumulations of nouns were akin to the additive method of piling up materials and found objects. Utilizing steel and wood Butler and Dunne have developed singular processes of direct metal and construction in holding the language of form and function to account. In a period of unparalleled and destabilising change from climate to internecine conflict this exhibition attempts to reflect the artists’ notion in holding up a mirror to society.
