The Mermaid Gallery Inistioge is delighted to present our Summer Exhibition featuring a collection of the oil paintings of Philipa Bayliss. Philipa Bayliss was born in Kilkenny in 1940. From 1961 – 1965 Philipa pursued her formal training as a painter at The Byam Shaw School of painting, London. There Philipa studied under Bernard Dunstan, Maurice de Sausmarez, Peter Greenham and Marc Vaux; Jane Dowling for printmaking. Philipa Bayliss received the Byam Shaw open scholarship, the Leverhulme Bursary, the Major County Award and the L.C.C. National Diploma in Design.In 1967 Philipa returned to Ireland where she was the first Curator of Castletown House. In 1972 Philipa moved to Ardclough and returned to full time painting.In 1976 Philipa had her first solo exhibition at the Neptune Gallery. This exhibition will continue to run untill the 31st August 2022.
